Our little model :)

  • Nov. 21st, 2009 at 10:25 PM

Here are some of his "2 year" photos..he was a trooper for most of them..we also had a family shoot with his brothers..and trust me..I think we all needed a timeout after that one ;)

Here is our oldest handsome little devil. Personally I think he can warm up to the camera quite well when he wants to :)

Beware..cuteness to follow )

Finally!

  • Nov. 9th, 2009 at 8:09 PM

So here we are another month + since being updated..I can only imagine as these kiddos get older that I will find less and less time to update. Hopefully not the case, but I fear it will be! Yuck.

Anyway..we made it through Halloween which included pumpkin patches and costumes and hayrides. All great times. This is the stuff I love to do with him, and that we will continue to do as a family. I think they are great little traditions and I know Caleb loves spending the time with us. It's one of the best parts of being a parent..getting to go to pumpkin patches and watch his little eyes light up as he sees the animals, or plays with the pumpkins..or cries and gets mad at you when it's time to leave...but all is made better when you tell him it's time for pizza. Yes..it's all, even the crying, heartwarming!! Love it!

He loved the "Pupups"..or pumpkins. Loved them. Makes me excited for next year to see Caleb and his brothers running around looking for just the right pumpkin for Mommy to carve :)

We also took our first road trip as a family..Caleb did great! The DVD player in the van is wonderful. He only asked to stop once into the adventure and that was 2 hours into it, and being stuck in his seat. We stopped and he got to wonder, and get treats from the store and lasted another 2 hours..it was nice. He got to meet one of my grandmothers..unfortunately the one in Texas is going to be a little while to get to..but someday soon with tons of reinforcement along that is for sure! Anyway, Hayward, WI, isn't all that far away..but in the time it took us to get there we probably could've made it to Chicago! It was well worth it though..I'm glad all the boys got to see their great grandmother Isham.

He got to help daddy with the leaves in the yard..he wasn't too sure about playing in the pile that he had just helped to create..I mean he did just clean it up. But once daddy threw him in the pile..that was it..fun was had. He's such a great little helper.

Anyway, here are pictures of our adventures of the last month and a half:

He is growing up far too fast..

  • Sep. 29th, 2009 at 8:56 PM

I sometimes feel like he's still my little baby...then I look at my big guy when he's with his little brothers and I realize wow..it wasn't that long ago that he was that small! He's not even 2 yet but I sometimes feel like time needs to slow down because before I know it he will be driving..
These days he's talking a lot more..however, most times it's a mystery as to what he is saying. I can figure it out, but we are together all day long so it's not that hard. He is still attempting a lot of words, at least one new one each day. You can't always understand it, but he tries and that's all I can ask for. Early to walk, late to talk.
He is very smart though..almost too smart for his own good. Gets him into trouble sometimes. :) Lately he's taken an interest in potty training...I am however not ready. I will not discourage him, but baby steps. He was so proud of himself the first time he did it..so proud. I was too. :) Realized we aren't too far off of just one less poopy diaper to change!
He is still a shy one--like Mommy..which again, is fine..not sure why some think that's a bad thing..he is an independent guy, crowd his space and he will quickly let you know he doesn't like it--just like Daddy. However, there are people he just takes too..like the neighbor..he really likes her. And just very recently a friend brought a friend to help feed his brothers and to my amazement he even got on the couch between the two of us without thinking about it, and wanted her to play. Others, even family, he doesn't warm up that quickly to...silly little guy. Just another reason I love him..he keeps me thinking!
Anyway..it's time to get some sleep! But of course..pictures :)

Wow

  • Aug. 20th, 2009 at 1:50 PM

I can't believe how long it's been since I posted here. That's sad.

Since the last time you heard about Caleb he's officially become a big brother. Most know that that though :) He's taking to pretty well..the big brother part that is. The sharing Mommy part not so well. Tanner has been hit and so has Brayden..but to be honest I think it's his way of trying to "play". He likes to play rough, and well, because he doesn't know how to say play with me, he tends to try to hit. Tanner and Brayden are his favorites so far, thus the hitting. He's attempted to hold both..it's very very cute. Both have gotten kisses as well. Again, cute. But, of course, I didn't have the camera. Drat.

Other than being busy being a big brother and awesome helper when Mommy needs a bottle brought into the kitchen, or a blanket/towel for the babies he's been a regular toddler. We went to see Thomas the Train, and even got a ride. If I had to do it all over again we would've just taken a ride on the lightrail..he would not have known any different and it would've been a cheaper trip :). He just loves "choo-choo's"...Thomas or not.

The state fair is coming up, and we were going to take all the boys, but instead, it's just going to be Mommy, Daddy and Caleb. He needs the special time with just his parents and I want to be sure to give him that, all of them actually when the little guys are older, at least twice a month if not more. Even if it's just to the park, out to dinner..something..he will get it. Anyway, I'm excited for the fair..and he doesn't know it yet, but I'm sure he is too. If for nothing else the food. The boy loves food...and being outside, so it will be his two favorite things in one day. Should be great.

Well, it's time to go..they will all be awake soon and I need to sneak in some down time for myslef.

Of course, a couple of pictures :)

Pictures!

  • Jun. 24th, 2009 at 9:09 PM

Slideshow edition because they are so much easier to post! Otherwise I'd have like a million pictures to post and that is time consuming. Just various pictures from the last couple of months. Playing outside, at the Twins game, and just having fun in general :) Looking back through the journal I cannot believe how big the boy has gotten and how quickly it has happened!
He is my handsome little man..and he knows it! :)

Bad Mommy..

  • Jun. 21st, 2009 at 1:42 PM

I really need to keep this updated! It's only going to get worse when his brothers get here. Part of the problem is making sure to upload all of his pictures with it too. It's time consuming and I'm so tired after bedtime routine. Excuses, excuses, I know..he's our handsome big boy and I need to show him off :)

Anyway, it's been a while. I'm still on my feet, sore as they may be, but he's keeping me going that is for sure. We get out almost every day, even if it's just in the yard for a couple of hours before or after nap. He LOVES being outdoors. LOVES it. He loves being inside cars, so long as he is not confined to his car seat. He loves his, yes, it's his, new Choo Choo wagon. It's got three carts and hopefully will have a forth for all the boys soon..but if he wants to go for a walk, forget the stroller and put him in the wagon, which ever cart he chooses, and he will go for a walk. He tries to push or pull it, but that doesn't always work.

Hmm..let's see..he's 18 months old now if you can believe that...closer to 19 months now. He eats like a teenager, but only weighs just under 27 pounds. He's nearly 3 feet tall at 35 inches, and the way he eats I swear he grows every single minute of the day. Every two hours it seems he eats..and I swear he's like his Daddy..low blood sugar will send him through the roof. Mark says he doesn't know what I'm talking about..I will set up a secret camera and everyone can see the two of them melt down if dinner isn't ready on time :) He has a lot to say these days..we can't always make out what the heck he's saying, but he is good at getting his point across. He has a "mean/mad" face. It's gotta be the cutest thing ever. He will also smile if he is in the mood and you ask him to. At least he does for Mommy :) He is such a Momma's Boy..which I don't mind because I get all of the cuddles in the world, so long as I'm not changing his diaper!

I have been working on his big boy room, and it's almost done. He is still in a crib since he has not attempted to climb out yet, but he does have a race car bed to help with that transition once it occurs. His room is going to be done up in Disney Cars since that is his favorite movie. It was time to big boy it up and he loves it. He even wanted to be in his crib with his Cars sheets..it's cute.

I will leave with a couple of photos, but the next post, SOON, very SOON will have photos and vidoes from the last few months. I promise! He's too cute not to share!

Here is the "Mean" look..used correctly when I asked if I could have some of his popcicle :)

Watchin' Jace play soccer..

Busy busy little guy!

A lot has been going on lately so much so I haven't posted. Easter was here and we had an egg hunt, pictures with a real bunny, Easter egg hunt, Easter at the MN Zoo was great. We've been enjoying the nice weather while we can at the park and with his new Sand/Water table. And because it's getting late I'm just going to post a slideshow of pictures from the last few weeks and hopefully when I'm not tired, and/or have time later perhaps I can update on the new words he's saying, the climbing adventures on the dining room table and his love for hotwheels and the cool new mountain we got him.

Enjoy the picutres!

A few weeks ago when it was actually nice out we took Caleb to the zoo. We ere going to take him to the MN Zoo, but then I saw that they are having baby farm animals so we decided to wait on that and took him to the Como Zoo. Now we just need the weather to be wonderful again so we can make it to the MN Zoo.
Anyway, he loved the zoo. I knew he would..he loves animals so there was no question. The best was the stare off he had with the orangutan. I of course missed it because I didn't have the camera in hand, but the orangutan came right up to the window we were sitting at and stopped and stared at Caleb. I wasn't too sure what he was going to do, but he just stared right back. Then once he walked away Caleb wasn't too happy. It was great! He loved it...so I really can't wait to take him to the MN Zoo.

Since the weather hasn't been the greatest, well, warmest, we took him to the MN Children's Museum this past Sunday. He loved that too...again, I figured he would. He could actually touch things without being told no. I'm glad we got the membership for him, and we can add his brothers once they arrive. His favorite was the "outdoor/jungle" area and the Tot area. It did take him awhile to warm up to venturing from my legs, but he had just woken up from a nap, and there were a ton of people. But once he realized he was going to have fun and it was safe he was off. We will be going back.

We have been to Adventure Park a few times, and I'm sure we will attempt to get there again this week or next, as well as the Eagle's Nest. I don't have pictures yet of that but hopefully soon.

I do have pictures from the Como Zoo and the Museum, I didn't upload them all, but here are a few to check out...Click here to see them! )

We've been busy..

  • Feb. 28th, 2009 at 9:54 PM

Or on the other hand, I've been too exhausted to type anything out. It's almost 10 now and I'm dead and should be sleeping..but instead I have to say something about my little man. :)

Today he had another encounter with a girl. Those don't happen too often around here as us Isham's breed boys. We had a playdate with Robin and her boys, and Mei and Sophie. It was great..it only took a year, but we were finally able to meet Soph. She is just too cute! She wanted to give hugs and kisses to all the Isham boys, and of course, Caleb was the only one to resist. Hopefully he keeps that up until he's married ;)

Another first today..he finally..he's been trying for weeks, but he finally got up on the couch on his own. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. He had been using one of his chairs to accomplish this, but not today. I cheered him on, but I'm sure I should've just left it alone. I was in trouble with his climbing before, now I'm asking for it. Oh well..he's just showing me how much bigger he gets each day.

He also almost has a full mouth of teeth going on. These last two that took forever to break through will make 13 and 14, which I hope means a break for me. It's been going on since 5 months..I say I deserve a break. Or, I mean we ;)

There is a lot more I'm sure I'm forgetting, but since I'm beat and ready to go get some rest before doing it again tomorrow I'll leave you with some pictures.

He just looks so grown up in this picture..14 months..

Good things to come

  • Feb. 1st, 2009 at 11:36 AM

So most people know now that Caleb is going to be a big brother by now. I like to think he is excited. Yes, yes, I know..he has no idea what I'm talking about. But three for him to boss around will be fun to watch. I know I mentioned I won't be taking over his blog for the new triplets, so I have yet another blog for them..
[info]tripletsmake6
There is where you will find updates on the pregnancy and how things are progessing for us.

Now, back to Caleb. We had great weather here yesterday. It was in the 40's in January and was a lovely day! Caleb loved playing outside and even built his first snowman with Mommy while Daddy was gone. Later Daddy attempted to build him a snowman, but Mommy was nice and didn't take any pictures of that. Really, it was not a sight to be seen. Daddy also pulled Caleb around on a sled and Caleb loved it. He didn't even want to come in, but had to because Daddy was cold, and I'm sure Caleb was too. Evidence of that were his cold little finger! He cried and cried, but it was time. So as the weather warms up he will be able to get out more, which is great since I know he's always loved being outside.

Here are some pictures and video of Caleb outside and in the basement..his other favorite place:

It's LONG over due..

  • Jan. 28th, 2009 at 7:34 PM

So, I've been busy. We've been busy. Things have kept me from posting..but here is an attempt at a few photos from Christmas. Yes, Christmas. Heck, we haven't even been able to get Thank You's out from his birthday party :( Though, I did order them today!

Anyway...since last I posted he has gotten his molars, and now he has 4 more teeth on the way. Yes, once again all at once. Not sure which is better..one at a time or all four. Though, I have a feeling once these four are in we are in for a break. Good for him, and good for us! He also loves to dance around...it's almost like he is grass dancing. Pretty cute. He knows where his hair, head, ears and nose (well..he thinks he knows where his nose is) are. He's found that walking backwards is really funny...for him..not watching people. He's discovered how to scream at his dislikes. Not so fun. He loves being downstairs and will tell you when he wants to go. And if you say downstairs instead of basement, be prepared to take him down there and play for hours. He LOVES to run. Sometimes I think he only has the one speed. He loves to be a "sweet boy" and give hugs with his head. I know there is a ton I'm forgetting because he learns something new everyday..not always good things like pinching..but he is learning.

I've also slacked on the photos as of late, but it will pick up again..I know I've missed too much already. But here are a few pics from Christmas. He got to meet his cousin Lilly, who beat him up. But he was a good boy and didn't hit the girl back :)

Busy little birthday boy!

  • Dec. 14th, 2008 at 9:05 PM

Caleb turned 1 on December 9th. He's gone from a cute little infant that amazed us from the moment he was born, to a handsome little man that runs, talks and is a little smartie pants. He loves books, buttons--pushing them, making noise, "Christmas", Kitty, calling 911, climbing the stairs and playing outside. I could go on and on, but I won't. He did great on such a busy weekend...he was so tired by the end of the party and napped for over and hour (not typical in the afternoon these days). Even today he took a long nap still trying to recover. We want to thank everyone that came to his party, and everyone that gave Caleb a gift. He loves them all and we very much appreciate it! Now, I will leave you all with pictures from his actual birthday when he got to open one present and try cake, pictures of his birthday party, and pictures enjoying his presents!

First present from Mommy and Daddy..

Awesome helicopter! Thanks!

Hmmm..what do I do with this...?

One of the many great gifts at his party

He thought the Monkey book from Jace was funny

School Bus from Mommy and Daddy

The cake...

...he wanted nothing to do with. Tired little guy at this point..

The next morning he had fun in one of the ball pits he got..

"Let's go to school Mommy!"

The cool choo choo!

And..the balloons! He loved the balloons!

Christmas Tree Hunting

  • Nov. 30th, 2008 at 9:59 PM

I've always had real Christmas trees growing up. And Mark and I have made it a tradition between us to always have a real one as well. So, now, it's Caleb's turn to join in the fun. Last year Caleb was with us, he just doesn't remember it. I, however, do. :) Anyway, we headed out to Rum River Tree Farm to find our tree..we left without a tree. However, we did end up with one today though, and the fun of decorating will take place during the week. We still managed to have a good time at the tree farm despite the cold weather, there was even a petting zoo that our little animal lover LOVED.

Nice Fall Day

  • Nov. 28th, 2008 at 9:56 PM

Yesterday was Thanksgiving and Caleb was a trooper. It was during his "normal" (I say "normal" because his nap time depends on the day lately) nap time for yesterday and even though he was a tad bit crabby before we left he was content playing on the floor while everyone ate. He ate lunch about an hour or so before we left and even though I tried to get him to have a bite he wasn't into it. Oh well. He got all dressed up for the occassion..well kind of. He wore his big cousin Jace's old sweater. Looked great on him!

That evening he found a new toy. His high chair. He pushed it around everywhere..in the kitchen while I was cooking, and in the livingroom because I told him not to..he thought it was great.

And today, the weather was great..last time I was able to check, my car read 42 degrees. Yes, that is a wonderful fall (LATE November) day here in Minnesota for those reading from a warm sunny destination. :) So, we took advantage of it before snack time!

Playing in the rocks like good boys do..

So helpfully pointing out that Mommy and Daddy have yet to cut back plants that so desperately need it..

And finally, after a fight to get back in the house, he's enjoying his new favorite treat...Pirate's Booty! :)

There is no stopping him!

  • Nov. 13th, 2008 at 10:05 PM

Well for awhile now he's been walking. Now, he is at the point he'd rather walk then crawl. Keeps us on our toes. Every single day, and hour, that goes by he gains more balance and we as his parents get more nervous. Why? We are just waiting for the next big fall. Regardless, he's a champ and LOVES to walk and he is probably as proud of himself, as we are of him.

He's loved his kitty since the day he came home. Now, he speaks the cat's language. Just ask him "what does the kitty say" and his response is...

Happy Halloween!

  • Oct. 31st, 2008 at 1:01 PM

Mommy managed to get a smile out of her lion! Here are a couple new pictures of our new wobble walker. If we had thought about this a little more he should've meen a Mummy or a Zombie on his new walking feet! Oh well..he's a cutie pie for sure!

And his first halloween carved pumpkin. He's pretty good ;) And talented considering it was done while he slept!

Busy Busy Busy

  • Oct. 26th, 2008 at 7:16 PM

So a lot has been going on lately, leaving me no time to post anything. I have a few minutes so I thought I'd catch up a bit.

About two weeks ago we suffered our first "injury". Nothing big, but when you're trying to walk it happens. Well, he was trying to "walk" behind his little blue truck and it didn't last too long. Down went Caleb and up went the truck :( In a split second I was there, but something else was split..his lip :( Now we all know the cute little guy has full lips to start with, well, this just added to it. I didn't get a picture right away, but here is one a day or two afterward:

Then just this past Tuesday I got out of the house for a little bit. I went to the New Kids on The Block concert. Ahhh...to be young again. Anyway, I brought Caleb something back because, well, you know, I had to make Mark angry ;) No, it was just too cute to pass up. One: he is starting to walk. Two: his Mom is an NKOTB fan. Need I say more?

And lastly, he's still a bit unsure of himself, but he's getting braver and braver every day! We are so proud of the little guy :) Step by Step...

PS..For those that don't know "Step by Step" is a New Kids song. Oh, and don't mind the minor shaking of the camera..Mom was a little excited and Caleb was pleased with my reaction.

Our Pumpkin is close to walking!

  • Oct. 11th, 2008 at 11:22 PM

He's been walking along furniture and behind his Tonka truck for a while now. He's been standing on his own here and there for a while now. Lately he's been able to stand alone just a tad bit better. Today we went to a pumpkin patch and in the middle of all the pumpkins he's standing all on his own for the longest we've seen. Yay! That was the highlight because he could've cared less about the pumpkins, and he was only interested in the pony for a second. What he really wanted was the dang tractor that was giving hay rides. Silly little guy..not that it was a waste of time because surely he would've spent all day looking and listening to that tractor.

We ran some errands and then headed home. That's when it happened..he took his first unassisted step between the couch and the table. Granted it wasn't far, but he did it! It was so cute, he was so proud of himself and he loved the attention Mommy gave him. Daddy missed it even though he was sitting right there, but he's got a lot on his mind with trying to get the basement done. Anyway, he's getting more brave, so I'm preparing for falls...but he was so thrilled with himself he did it a few times more before dinner and bed. It won't be long now!!

Pictures from the pumpkin patch..you can see from his look he wasn't too thrilled..maybe next year.. :)

10 months..TEN months..

  • Oct. 9th, 2008 at 9:08 PM

I can't believe it. I say it every month, but this time..there are only two more months before he's one. 1 YEAR. I really don't know where the time has gone...
