I think that one of these days, I am just destined to vacation at a resort in Myrtle Beach. It just seems like the best place for me, plus it comes up time and time again in my life. It's like one of those signs, you know?

This oceanfront hotel in Myrtle Beach is like a dream come true. It's not too expensive - I saw a King room on there for $84/night! I would love nothing more than to just relax on these beach chairs and then head out to the ocean for a swim:

In fact, on NPR they determined just how good vacations are for you! People who had more leisure activities reported more life satisfaction, finding more meaning in life. They tended to be more religious and spiritual in orientation. They reported having a lot of support from friends and having a large network of friends and family.
Among the benefits to be found from engaging in multiple activities are lower blood pressure, lower stress hormones and smaller waists.
Europeans embrace this idea almost religiously. Vacations are enshrined in law. In countries like Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, employers are required to provide up to 20 days of paid leave. Americans, on the other hand, get an average of 12 days every year. A study conducted by the Families and Work Institute found that less than half of U.S. employees take the full vacation.
I am taking this to heart -- I really want to go to this Myrtle Beach Resort in paradise. I've got so much stress in my life, I really need a vacation. Anyone want to help with that all-expenses-paid part? :P

I have been really working on getting my financial life in order, starting with my credit cards. Some of them are at much higher rates than I find acceptable. These days it seems like finding a low interest credit card is like finding the Holy Grail, for reals.
I checked out comparecards.com to see if they could help me. I wanted to compare credit card offers to mine and see what I could find that was better than ours.
I checked out the cards that could do balance transfers first because I really wanted to get out from under my other crappy cards. I saw a really good Citi card in that list, it's the best credit card out there. Then I also checked out the low interest credit cards and even the credit cards for people with bad credit. I liked how they had reviews by the editors AND from real people. I could really make a good choice.
I chose the Citi card because it had a lower interest rate than most of my cards, it really seemed like the best card for me to switch to. You should check it out if you're not happy with your credit cards!

From all the years that David has been giving out math help as a tutor, I've learned a lot about how to solve math problems. But not everyone is as lucky as I was to have someone there to help all the time!
The resources out there for students these days is amazing. Check out this company - Guaranteach. They provide algebra help online! Amy's husband Gabe is an online tutor, and he helps many people every week pass their exams and really understand the material.
Math is tough, whether you're in kindergarten or college. Not everyone is a natural born math problem solver! Passing math classes and learning important math skills is so important for the future and all job opportunities. So whether you're in kindergarten or college, if you need online tutoring, check out Guaranteach now!.

I just can't get that Myrtle Beach Hotel from the other day off my mind! When I go there, I'm going to make sure to get one right on the beach. I think water is just the most beautiful nature scene ever.
Check out these Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotels. They are picture perfect. Each condo has an ocean view, a full kitchen, a dining room area, washer/dryer, a Jacuzzi tub, and WiFi! OMG. I would never need to leave! Maybe I could just move there.
I hope it's not long before I'm ending my evenings with this at an Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotel:

After I spent hours writing that post, of course the official photos would be released right after I hit publish! So I guess this gets its own post.
My official time: 05:41:59
And an official finish photo, which I did order one print of:

Ok guys, this was my first and probably only marathon, so this write up is going to be loooooong. With pictures. And videos.
( You've been warned. )
I am typing this two days later, and I have to say, I am almost embarrassed that I am not that sore. Seriously. My hamstrings are a little tight, maybe my calves, but that's IT. I am not having problems getting in and out of chairs. I was more sore after my first HALF marathon!
What this proves is what I was after: nice and easy. I went much slower than I could have. I could have kept trucking along at the pace I did the first half in, finished under 5:30 for sure, but I'd be in a lot more pain. Of course there's always the part of me that wonders what I could have done if I'd pushed myself harder, but in general, I am proud of myself for not wrecking my body, for holding back, and for enjoying the moment.
Even two days later, not sore and ready to run again, I do not see any more marathons in my future. Never say never, they say, so I won't make any definitive statements like that. But I WILL say that there will be no full marathons for me in 2010. I want to work on speed and fitness. Maybe, just maybe, if my speed and fitness get to where I want them to be, someday I'll challenge the marathon again. But I really might just be satisfied with a "been there, done that, got the sticker" type of experience.
Here's to getting faster in 2010!!

So you guys know I watch a lot of TV, right? I am SO BEHIND after this marathon weekend - I have tons of shows waiting for me when I get home!
The shows I currently watch are: Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother, LOST, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Desperate Housewives, 90210, The Office, Biggest Loser, Bones, House, Glee, and So You Think You Can Dance. With all this TV, you KNOW I need Direct TV.

Right now, this DirectTV site is offering all sorts of good packages, with free HBO, Showtime, and Star. Plus they have over 130 channels on DirecTV HD as well!
I think these are some great deals, and I'd love to have a nice, new TV package soon.
